Careem's evolution from ride-hailing company to everyday-services platform has created something particularly valuable in financial technology: an enormous consumer ecosystem within which financial services can be embedded naturally.

Careem Pay, led by Vice President Mo El Saadi, is the financial-services layer of that ecosystem. Rather than asking customers to establish an entirely new relationship with a standalone financial app, Careem can introduce payments, wallets, bill settlement and remittances within an environment millions of consumers already use for mobility, food and other everyday services.

That distribution advantage has become particularly visible in cross-border money transfers. Careem Pay now enables customers in the UAE to send money to more than 35 countries, including major remittance corridors across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In 2026, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia were added to its international-transfer network, with transfers designed to reach recipient bank accounts within minutes.

International transfers are provided in partnership with LuLu Exchange and operate with Central Bank of the UAE approval. Careem Pay has also worked with financial-infrastructure specialists such as Lean Technologies and Adyen as it develops its remittance rails and account-to-account payment capabilities.

El Saadi's role is consequently broader than conventional payments management. Careem Pay sits at the intersection of fintech and platform economics, where the central question is how financial services can become almost invisible inside a customer's everyday digital behaviour.

The proposition includes peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments, wallet functionality, bank withdrawals and international remittances. More importantly, Careem already understands significant elements of the customer journey through the broader super-app.

That could prove increasingly powerful as embedded finance matures in the region. Financial products no longer need to originate from a bank branch—or even necessarily from a banking application. They can appear precisely at the moment a customer needs them inside another digital service.

Careem Pay exemplifies that transition. Its competitive advantage is not simply that it can move money. It is that financial services can be placed within one of the Middle East's most recognised consumer platforms.

Under El Saadi's leadership, Careem Pay is therefore helping demonstrate what the region's next generation of fintech may look like: less about persuading users to visit a financial product, and more about bringing financial functionality directly into the digital experiences they already use every day.
