(Image: Supplied)Restaurant technology company Foodics has launched Foodics Black, an all-in-one management platform developed for full-service restaurants, including fine-dining and contemporary casual venues.
Unveiled at the LEAP technology conference in Riyadh, the cloud-based platform connects different stages of the guest journey, beginning with restaurant discovery and reservations and continuing through ordering and payment.
Foodics Black includes smart reservations, real-time floor management, seat-level ordering, course pacing, kitchen synchronization, inventory management and tableside payments. The company said bringing these functions into one system could reduce the need for restaurant operators to manage multiple standalone platforms and devices.
The platform is supported by new point-of-sale hardware and Mobile Waiter devices designed for full-service dining environments. According to Foodics, the hardware combines performance and durability with a design intended to fit within fine-dining and contemporary restaurant settings. The platform also supports Android devices.
Foodics said the connected system is designed to improve coordination between front- and back-of-house teams. It could also help restaurant operators manage staffing, reduce waste and limit errors caused by disconnected operational systems.
Foodics Black includes embedded payment capabilities and complies with the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority’s electronic invoicing requirements.
Ahmad AlZaini, Co-founder and CEO of Foodics, said “Foodics Black represents our vision for the next generation of full-service restaurant technology: connected, intelligent and built around the guest. It also unlocks a whole new market segment for Foodics, as well as allowing us to support our existing customer base further. We see a significant opportunity to bring enterprise-grade capabilities to restaurant groups across the region while giving them technology that understands the realities of hospitality.”
Alongside the product launch, Foodics announced strategic partnerships with MJS Holding, restaurant discovery and loyalty platform Spice, and digital ordering provider Wi-Q, also known as Wi-Connect.
MJS Holding plans to introduce Foodics Black across its restaurant portfolio. The Saudi restaurant operator’s brands include Black Tap, A.O.K Kitchen, Rüya, Mr Chow and La Terraza.
The partnership with Spice will connect restaurant discovery, bookings and loyalty services with the Foodics Black ecosystem. The platform allows diners to find and reserve restaurants while participating in loyalty programs.
Wi-Q provides an omnichannel ordering system that consolidates orders received through multiple delivery and ordering platforms into one interface. Its integration is intended to give restaurant operators a centralized view of orders arriving through different channels.
Together, the three partnerships extend Foodics Black across several parts of the restaurant experience, including discovery, reservations, loyalty, ordering, operations and payments.
Foodics said the platform would become available across all of its markets soon.
Founded in 2014, Foodics provides restaurant operations and payment technology across the Middle East and North Africa. Its services cover businesses ranging from dine-in and quick-service restaurants to cafés, bakeries, food trucks, cloud kitchens and small retailers.
The company also operates Foodics Pay, a financial technology business licensed by the Saudi Central Bank to provide payment and financial services to restaurants and merchants. Foodics said its platform has processed more than 6 billion orders since its launch. The company previously raised $170 million in a Series C funding round.
